Unbroken Circle edition by Mary Griggs Literature Fiction eBooks

Sallie Lee Hybart doesn’t see many strangers at her diner counter. Pennington, Alabama, is a town the interstate passed by, so newcomers are rare. But this one looks familiar.
Janet Bouton has nothing and no one. Her life has been stripped down to the clothing on her back. Counting out her meager change to pay for a stick-to-the-ribs meal, she is hoping to escape the diner unrecognized. She shouldn’t have come back...but no place else on earth was familiar.
An act of kindness sets a chain of events in motion and pulls Sallie Lee and Janet together, but the past has the power to tear them apart. There are still people in Pennington who remember Janet too well. Small town memories have had a lot of years to simmer, and love may not be the recipe for happiness.
Mary Griggs’ debut romance novel unites a lost soul and a determined survivor to create a passionate story that readers will remember long after the final page.

You know I get tired of reviews that say oh th author should do this and that. Write your own book.1. Sara Lee and Janet knew of each other when they were younger. Yes Janet had a crush on Sara Lee. But they never ran in the same crowd. Yes Janet best friend d was Sara Lee's sister.
2. Remember Sara Lee said nobody would tell her what happened when she returned home. So she didn't know the whole story. I liked that her sister keep th news articles that Sara Lee found.
I thought this was a great book. I liked how Janet the one who got a raw deal was able to come home to find out the truth and find love in th one place that had causes her great pain done to her. Well done mary I would definitely recommend this book.

Unbroken Circle edition by Mary Griggs Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Janet Bouton has nothing and no one in her life. She had spent fifteen years in prison for the murder of her rapist. Since her release, she had wandered around aimlessly from place to place doing whatever mundane job came her way. She finally found herself back in her hometown of Pennington, Alabama. She has little money and no place to stay. She goes into the towns diner, the one her late parents used to own, for a meal. Then she spends the night sleeping rough and is beaten up. Sallie Lee Hybart, (Lee) owner of the diner was sure she had recognized Janet from somewhere. It wasn't until she got home, she realized that Janet and her sister had been best friends at school. When Janet returns to the diner the following morning battered and bruised, Lee offers her a place to stay and her friendship. Unfortunately, some of the people in the town had not forgotten Janet's past. Lee and Janet eventually fall in love and stand firm. It's not until a visit to the sheriff's office sets off a new chain of events, that Janet finally feels she can get on with her life.
A fantastic debut book. A real page turner. I simply couldn't put this down. From the first page I was hooked. This is so much more than just a romance, although the sex is hot. The story is about a lost soul finally finding out that she is not the worthless person she thought she was. It's about learning to trust in herself and others and having the courage to take a chance on life and love. It also shows that the stronger person has to allow the weaker person room to manoeuvre and to trust that they will make the right choices.. If this is what Mary's writing has to offer, I want more and soon. Well done Mary.
I like the idea of second chances. This was a sweet story, but somehow it ended pretty suddenly. The events developed slowly, and then, suddenly, everything was clear, and resolved, and that was that.
I actually would give this 3 1/2 stars. I liked the plot, I like the characters-but I'm not sure I got to know them well enough. This author can write, but I needed to know more about their relationships when they were younger-after all they knew each other way back when they were kids in a small town in the South. That would hold a wealth of information for a great story. Anyway, a fair read.
I loved Unbroken Circle. Great book. It’s true, when you give someone a hand up, everyone benefits. Loved this book.
This was a good first novel by Griggs and I'd read more of her stories. I enjoyed the love story between Janet and Sallie-Lee and the reveal of their shared history and how the relationship between them helps Janet to overcome her past. The only real quibble I have is that Sallie-Lee has to read newspaper clippings to remember what the 'scandal' was, which seems implausible since a) it involved someone she knew and who was best friends with her sister and b) it happened in a small town, so it wouldn't be something she'd be likely to not know or would forget. The ending is also a little pat, but that still that doesn't stop this from being a good book with an interesting premise.
I have thought about this review for a long time because I want to be sensitive to the story (about sensitive topics sexual assault and second chances) while at the same time, I think there are valid criticisms.
I agree with others that the characters are not fleshed out well. It is hard to understand the reasons some do things. I never understood why Sallie Lee felt attraction to Janet, when most of her feelings seemed to be pity/sympathy.
Janet suffered sexual assault in high school and then again in prison. The way their sexual relationship unfolded seemed extremely unrealistic to me. If Janet was that wounded (as some scenes suggest), then Sallie Lee's advances (especially when she started playing with power verbally) were incongruent to where Janet was at and came off as insensitive. It would have been much more sexy for if issues of consent and desire had been discussed, and considering Janet's history, it should have been.
This is an important book because it is not just a romance novel. It deals with an issue that has plagued women since the beginning of time. I read one review where the reader was horrified and couldn't believe that violence like that could happen to a woman and that it could be handled with so much injustice. But this type situation happens all the time and has since time began. This book brings awareness and deals with the issue of violence against women and the injustice of the rape culture we live in. I like that it projects a light at the end of the tunnel that (hopefully) in our future the mindset of our culture will change and that we can see not only justice for such crimes but a world where people actually understand what violence against women is and put a stop to it. While it is indeed a very hot and sensual romance novel, it is so much more. It is an important tool in bringing awareness in the ongoing fight against violence against women and the injustices that surround it. Mary Griggs, I salute you. Very well done.
